This event is the first of two events exploring tips and hints for job huntingmaking strong applicationspreparing for interviews and securing employment.


At this event you will hear from an industry expert, Henrique OliveiraTalent Acquisition Manager at Burberry and two alumni, Kate Walker and Olivia Shaw, as they share their experiences and advice.


6pm Henrique Oliveira, Talent Acquisition Manager, Burberry


Henrique has 12 years of experience in Talent Acquisition for the Apparel & Fashion and Sportswear industry internationally, recruiting for brands such as adidas, Vans, Carhartt, Diesel, Levi’s, Bottega Veneta and Patagonia, to name a few. For the past four years he has been the Talent Acquisition Manager responsible for creative talent recruitment at Burberry global HQ.


The talk will be about what recruiters like Henrique look for when hiring creative talent and how to stand out in this very competitive market.


6.50pm Kate Walker


Kate is a RTW Womenswear Designer who graduated from the Fashion with Business Studies course at the University of Brighton in 2016 having undertaken internships at Roksanda, Marques Almeida and Isa Arfen. Since graduating Kate has held design positions at Peter Pilotto, Alexander McQueen and for Susanne Deeken, a Design Consultant on projects for Givenchy, Maison Margiela, Yeezy and APC. Since going freelance in 2020 Kate has done design work for fashion brand Stine Goya, created custom designs for magazine shoots with Dazed and Hunger, worked with musicians such as Adam Lambert and Sam Smith and also commercial work for TV commercials and campaigns.


7.10pm Olivia Shaw


Olivia graduated from Fashion Communication with Business Studies in 2018. Olivia is passionate about creative communication, specifically within sustainability, and currently works for London Waste and Recycling Board as a Communication and Behaviour Change Executive. Since joining the company in 2018 she has worked primarily on two projects: Love Not Landfill, a sustainable fashion campaign, and CIRCuIT, a circular construction project.
