BOSS: Working For Yourself 6th Feb 1.30-4pm M50

The Fashion and Textiles team present “Being a Freelancer”, the first in a set of informal talks which aims to give you a sense of what it is really like to work for yourself or run your own business, to show that every career path is different and there is not one way to work for yourself, with each of us doing things our own way.

BOSS is a series of three workshops that focus on building employability skills as part of a pilot project called BOSS (Business Opportunities and Skills Sharing) running in 2019/20.

The workshops are designed to extend learning from Business Studies Modules. They are being created in consultation with Level 6 Fashion Communication students, and are in response to results of a survey they completed at the Placement Debrief Workshop at the start of the academic year.

The workshop topics are:

  • Working for Yourself
  • Preparing Your Portfolio
  • What Employers are looking for
