After using ink and bleach, I really liked the process of painting with ink, so, I decided to create this drawing of the Mauritian fruit bat. This fruit bat is the only living native animal to Mauritius, so I thought it was important that I capture it in my work. I started by painting the outline of the bat in black ink, then I filled any areas of the bat that are black with the ink. To make this a mixed media piece, I then went in with coloured pencil to add any other colours in the image, as well as creating the small details on the wings. I really like the outcome of this piece and I think the pencil and ink work well together. I also used a white pen to add highlights to the image, which I think pulls it together well.
