Today was the first day of semester 2, we had a briefing for the self directed project and a workshop to start discussing ideas. Prior to this workshop, I had started to think about some ideas for what I wanted to do in my project. I thought about my interests such as music, fashion, films, travelling, etc, and how I could incorporate these into a project. I want to choose something that I am interested in, that I feel will be fun to research and make.

After the briefing and seeing some examples of previous student’s work, I am interested in creating a graphic novel. This is not something that I have done before but it is something that I would like to experiment with. There was then a workshop where, in groups, we discussed each of our ideas. It was interesting to hear everyone’s initial ideas and thought processes towards the project and this definitely gave me some inspiration for my project. I thought of some other ideas for the graphic novel such as it being about a personal experience e.g. travel, or a recap of events that I experienced over the past year. In our groups we made a powerpoint where we each contributed two slides of our ideas. I focused mainly on the style and layout of graphic novels that I am interested in, as well as a few initial ideas.
