After looking into Laura Melissa Williams’ work, I was inspired to create this piece using ink and bleach. I looked at images of Mauritius as well as satellite imagery to know which parts of the image to bleach. There was limited satellite images of Mauritius at night that I could find, but I also managed to get an image off of google earth, however it was quite pixilated. Nevertheless, with the images that I could find, I managed to create the image that I wanted, taking inspiration from Williams’ work. I am happy with the outcome and I think it was an effective way to use the ink and bleach process. I would like to explore using ink and bleach more in this project, either in similar ways or experimenting more with it in new processes.
