Visual diary 2022-23

This is the visual diary that I have kept throughout the semester. I did enjoy creating this and it was a good source of motivation for drawing everyday but I did struggle some days with what to draw as I felt I ran out of ideas nearer the end. Despite this, I still managed to produce a sketchbook of drawings. Some days I drew things from my imagination, whilst others I used photos I had taken or took inspiration from other artworks.

After the drawing workshop that we had in the first project which focused on hands, I was really inspired to draw a lot of hand and keep practicing this skill, which is evident in my visual diary. I definitely think I have improved since that workshop and am now able to draw more realistic looking hands.

Brighton Pavilion with the ice skating rink up. The colours on the pavilion were so pretty on this day.

On some days, like these ones for example, I felt like my mind was empty and I had nothing to draw so this is what I ended up producing. I quite like this outcome and I think it would work well as a background for another image.

I decided to draw my bedroom from a birds eye view as I was thinking out how it might look from that angle.

My bedside table – a lot tidier than it normally is!

I then started to really enjoy drawing mushrooms and I ended up drawing them on a number of days in my visual diary. I felt that they were very satisfying to draw and I like how they look, especially in the black marker pen.

I found a website which generates random faces and facial expressions so I had a few days of drawing these which was quite fun.
