Below are my three sketches from my initial brainstorming session. This process taught me to allow myself to come up with sillier solutions (such as the backpack-amp) in order to better highlight the optimal path for designing a prototype. For example, in designing the backpack-amp I realised that attaching a physical electrical amp to the body of a bass guitar would always inhibit the user’s movement in one way or another. This would not be ideal, as the core idea behind this project is to allow a beginner musician to develop transferrable skills before making a large investment into all of the components that go into more professional music.
