Managing notifications in studentcentral

studentcentral now has a clearer structure for alerting students and staff to activity taking place in the modules and courses they are enrolled on. Knowing how to manage your notifications is important to make effective use of studentcentral. Students will receive notifications via email and to their mobile devices (if they have installed the Blackboard Mobile Learn app), as well as seeing them under the ‘What’s New’ sections, and from the Global Navigation.

For more details: Find out how notifications work in studentcentral for staff and students.

Students may want to edit their notification settings to control the type, frequency and method of delivery of the notifications they receive. To help them do this, we have produced a video and print support guide that you can circulate to students.

It’s important to note that notifications are not generated automatically for Turnitin eSubmission deadlines, as this is a 3rd party tool and notifications are only generated from Blackboard tools (the software that runs studentcentral).  The Announcements tool can be used to let students know about Turnitin submissions, as it generates a notification and can also be pushed to students as an email.
