Regulations
- The guttering product must not affect the flow capacity of the guttering.
- The guttering product must not decrease the effective diameter of the guttering.
- The guttering product must not impede the discharge of water from the guttering to the outlet.
- The guttering product must not negatively affect the structural integrity of the guttering.
- The lamppost product must not decrease the effective light emitted from the lamppost.
- The lamppost product must not affect the electronic efficiency of the lamppost.
- The lamppost product must not negatively affect the structural integrity of the lamppost.
Environment
- The products should be resistant to adverse weather conditions, specifically heavy rainfall.
- The products must be resistant to holding soil, water and plant life.
- The products must not become damaged by roots.
- The products must withstand a load of at least 1kg per metre of guttering.
- The products must withstand regular use by wildlife.
- The products must withstand being covered in plant life.
Life-Span
- A minimum of 40 years is required for the products.
- The products should not degrade when hosting plant life for 40+ years.
- The products should be made as if they will never be replaced.
Performance
- The guttering product must drain water without leaking soil into the guttering.
- The lamppost product must drain water without dripping onto people below.
- The lamppost product must drain water without leaking soil onto the pavement below.
- The guttering product should attach to standard guttering without modification.
- The lamppost product should attach to poles with a diameter of 115mm or less without modification.
- The products should attachments for ropes to connect the products together.
- The products should require little to no maintenance to maintain their functions.
- The guttering product should be modifiable to suit different lengths of guttering.
- The products should become permanent fixings when they’re attached to guttering/lampposts.
Materials
- The products should not be biodegradable.
- The products must not degrade when wet.
- The products must be rigid.
- The guttering product should be able to be deformed to a small degree, between 10 and 20mm, in order to clip under the existing guttering attachments.
- The lamppost product should not react with or degrade aluminium or steel lampposts.
- The products should be colourful and draw attention to themselves.
