Glyndebourne performance for schools

Students from our (Secondary) Art and Design PGCE and (Secondary) Modern Foreign Languages PGCE attended the performance for schools production of Mozart’s Così Fan Tutte at Glyndebourne Opera in October.

After the show students took part in a bespoke workshop led by renowned composer and conductor Howard Moody who was also joined by opera director, Simon Lorio and Glyndebourne singers.

The group were introduced to a piece of music representing a key moment within the opera. After initial group discussions, students were encouraged to make their own composition based on the piece and to create a scene in collaboration with an opera director. The workshop allowed students to explore concepts such as composition, plotting, scene setting and sharing.

It also provided a range of experiences including:

  • exploring operatic repertoire
  • working with Glyndebourne artistic teams and singers
  • accessing online teaching resources

Opportunities exist throughout the year to develop links with Glyndebourne. They also offer an exclusive artist teacher in residency project for (Secondary) Art and Design PGCE graduates during their summer programme.
