Newly Qualified Teacher Award Nomination

Congratulations to one of our Recently Qualified Teachers (RQT), David Butler, who was nominated in the ‘NQT of the year’ category as part of United Learning’s ‘The Best in Everyone Primary Awards.’

United Learning is an academy trust, consisting of over sixty schools, operating in both the private and public sector. The awards celebrate achievements of both primary pupils and staff from schools associated within the trust.

David said: “I was nominated by the school’s Assistant Principal and this means a lot coming from someone I really look up to. I feel the nomination is a reflection of all my hard work and dedication from the very beginning of my training and is certainly one of the strongest pieces of evidence that has led to me passing my NQT year.”

Although he did not win, David was flattered to be put forward to represent his school.

David hadn’t always planned on being a teacher and spent a few years working as an actor after graduating from a BA Hons in French and Italian. Seeking a more stable and rewarding role he choose to study our Secondary Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) PGCE.

“The highlights of studying the MFL PGCE  for me were the close-knit cohort of students, many at different stages in their lives, but all with a mutual love of teaching and learning languages and all happy to share their experiences and insight.

“The course leader, Karen, was very supportive and I owe it to her for placing me with an absolutely fantastic PGCE mentor, who practically taught me all I know in my first phase of school-based training.”

David graduated from the (Secondary) Modern Foreign Languages PGCE in 2016, and went straight into a role with the school where he also undertook his school-based training.
