Family Fun Day 2016

On 14th May over 100 student parents, carers, staff and their children enjoyed a Family Fun Day organised by Student Support & Guidance Tutors (SSGT).

Falmer fun day team​The event, now in its second year, took place in the Checkland Building on Falmer campus included lots of activities for children such as a bouncy castle, face painting, reptile handling, and a soft play area. There were also relaxing free hand massages available for our student parents The Open Learning Centre was also open for quiet games and reading.

The free ‘Family Fun Day’ provides an opportunity for student parents and carers to get to know one another and share their experiences of juggling family and student life.

 

Melanie Gill, Principal Lecturer and the Student Engagement Coordinator in the university’s School of Education, said: “Student parents and carers often have

family fun day snake difficulties with looking after children, work and studies, and our aim is to bring them together so they can share experiences and tips on how to manage the demands on them.

“We try and encourage as many student parent and carers as possible to attend and it always turns out to be quite an event.”
