Celebrating a partnership

Lorraine Harrison, head of the University of Brighton’s School of Education and assistant head,  Mark Price, travelled to Guernsey last week to celebrate the partnership with the States of Guernsey Education Department.

As part of the celebrations plaques were unveiled during the trip at the Education Department and the College of Further Education.

Mark Price said: “The University of Brighton’s School of Education is delighted to acknowledge and celebrate its long standing and fruitful partnership with the States of Guernsey Education Department.

“This partnership, stretches right back  to our first collaborative venture, a flexible PGCE programme for primary school teachers, followed by the creation of  professional development programmes for Learning Support Assistants and an MA programme for experienced teachers and middle leaders.

“More recently, our partnership with Guernsey been extended to include the College of Further Education and developments here include University award programmes for early years practitioners in nurseries and pre-school settings as well as College tutors.

“Together, our partnership has been built on mutual trust and regard, born out of a shared commitment to promote the highest level of professional practice for Guernsey education staff and ultimately for the benefit of the children and young people of Guernsey.

“We look forward to continuing to support and work closely with staff in Guernsey’s Education Department and College of Further Education in future collaborative work.”
