Careers Service for Doctoral Students

Brighton beach scene

The Careers Service provides support for all students at the University of Brighton and recognises that the needs of postgraduate researchers (PGRs) often differ from those of taught students. Below you’ll find a post from the team outlining their services, how their provision relates to doctoral students, and ways you can contact them.

The Careers Service is here for Postgraduate Researchers too.

All Postgraduate Researchers are different. The University of Brighton Careers Service offers one-to-one appointments in which you can focus on your individual interests and priorities.

We provide a confidential, reflective space to help plan career development for those considering progression in both academia and industry and offer advice on job search and crafting effective applications.

We also contribute to the Doctoral College’s Postgraduate Researcher Development Programme.

If you would like to make an appointment at any stage of your doctoral degree just email us on careers@brighton.ac.uk or call 01273 642855.

To independently research information on progressing a research career from planning your academic and professional development to academic CVs, statements of research interest and funding applications, https://www.vitae.ac.uk/ is the ‘go to’ external resource for Postgraduate and Early Career Researchers. Simply registering gives you access to a significant proportion of the information resources.
