11.00-12.30, Huxley 406-7, Moulsecoomb
Part of the Doctoral College’s Festival of Postgraduate Research 2022
Come along to Blind Date with a Living Book to find out more about PhD students at Brighton! This friendly, informal, drop-in event offers insights into a range of doctoral research along with glimpses into a side of research life we don’t always get to see.
Our ‘books’ are PhD students and all members of the University of Brighton are warmly invited to step inside our library and ‘borrow’ a book or two. The twist is, you don’t get to judge the books by their covers. This date is blind!
What does that mean? It means you don’t get to decide that you’d like to hear from, say, a second year PhD student in the School of Art and Media. Instead, select your book based on clues to the content then pull up a chair to hear from the person themselves – whoever that may be!
Blind Date with a Living Book brings a wealth of research-related topics to life, quite literally. It’s an opportunity to make connections, broaden your awareness, and discover more about our research students on both an academic and a personal level.
Drop by the ‘library’ (actually Huxley 406-7) at any time between 11.00 and 12.45 and browse our blind date shelves. You can engage with your book on a one-to-one basis, or sit down with a friend or fellow browser, and ‘read’ together. We promise not to shush anyone!
