Flora, Fauna, and Spirituality

For the second part of the When World’s Collide task, I’m taking my 3D world box and combining it with one of the new themes from this new brief. The one I’ve chosen is spirituality.

There is an obvious link between Flora, fauna, and spirituality. Nature is a key element in many practices and is the main inspiration for the observation of sacred geometry; the shapes and patterns that form and connect the universe, what many consider proof of a higher power.

We have been tasked with gathering references for which we are to use when we create 3 final pieces relating to our themes. My main point of reference is visionary art.

“Samsara” by Michael Divine

“The Apotheosis of Hope” by Michael Divine

“Schöpfungszyklus” by Martin-Georg Oscity

Visionary art is about depicting the layers of consciousness, awareness, general nature of the soul, or a message from the divine. It is often created with the use of the artist’s intuition and “third eye”, a spiritual tool which is used to percieve anything beyond our physical realm such as spirits and prophetic messages (visionary art may also involve the use of psychedelics such as DMT or Ayahuasca). It is often vibrant, colourful, and involves use of nature, natural shapes, sacred geometry, chakras, and the human form.

Being spiritual myself, this is something I’m interested in tapping into.

Here are some more references:
