Dr. Deanna Dadusc (University of Brighton, SASS) and Dr. Marisela Montenegro (Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona), ‘Building BRIDGES: a toolkit for decolonial feminist pedagogies’

BRIDGES is a consortium that brings together epistemic communities both inside and outside the academy in Barcelona, Brighton, Giessen and Athens. Through anti-racist feminist practices, it seeks to dismantle the assumptions that theory must be derived from a process of abstraction that is detached from everyday struggles. Instead, it fosters processes of reflection and collective analysis originated from the situated experiences within and outside European universities, dismantling divides between object and subject of knowledge, between activism and scholarship. The project seeks to bridge intersecting struggles, building communities to co-produce alternative knowledge through Participatory Action Research. The team is currently producing a toolkit to provide anti-racist and feminist tools and strategies for addressing and dismantling structures of exclusion in Higher Education curricula. In this workshop, we would like to present our first draft for the toolkit, and to explain how we intend to develop it into a course for teachers within Higher Education institutions.
