Dr Vedrana Velickovic from The School of Humanities and Social Science at The University of Brighton is recruiting students to be part of The Coast is Queer student programming team. The Coast is Queer is the UK’s Biggest & Brightest LGBTQIA+ literature festival, featuring some of the best contemporary LGBTQIA+ writing. For past events see: https://coastisqueer.com/.
This year’s festival will run from 9 – 12 October 2025, and we are looking to recruit three (3) student curators who will work together with The Coast is Queer Programming Team and 3 other students from the University of Sussex to conceive of and produce two events to take place on Friday 10th October 2025. Brighton/Sussex staff and The Coast is Queer Steering Group (Dr Velickovic and Dr Sam Solomon) will manage the student team along with the Festival Director, Lesley Wood (New Writing South).
You will be paid a fee of £125/student and receive a FREE Festival pass for The Coast is Queer granting access to all panel and in-conversation events. Estimated 6-8 hours work per student. We invite any undergraduate, PGT and PGR students with an interest in LGBTQIA+ literature to apply. If you are passionate about Queer Writing, we would love to hear from you!
