The Lesbian Lives Conference has recently announced a call for papers on the theme of: “The Lesbian International: Creating Networks of Knowledge Across Space and Time”.

The conference is hosted by the Journal of Lesbian Studies, Sinister Wisdom, and CLAGS: The Center for LGBTQ Studies at the City University of New York.

This year’s conference is taking place in New York, from the 24th – 25th October 2025.

Proposals & Abstract Submission

The conference is welcoming proposals for the following:

  • Individual papers
  • Panel sessions
  • Roundtable discussions
  • Workshops
  • Film (after 2020) screenings
  • Visual presentations

Proposals should be no longer than 300 words and must be submitted via the online form by 31 March 2025.

Successful applicants will be required to register for the conference by 30 April 2025.

CTSG Funding

The CTSG is hoping to fund a delegation of our members to attend this conference. Given the fact that attendance costs will be high due to the conference’s location of New York, we cannot presently guarantee how many members we will be able to support the attendance of. Depending on how many members are interested in attending the conference and successful in proposing an abstract for presentation, we will also need to determine whether the best course of action will be to provide full funding for some attendees or partial funding for a higher number of attendees. This will be discussed based on the number of CTSG members who express their interest in attending the conference.

Next Steps

If you are interested in attending this conference, please:

  • Submit a proposal to the conference organisers  via the online form by 31 March 2025.
  • After you have submitted a proposal above, send an email to CTSG@brighton.ac.uk informing us of your intention to attend the conference.
