Uni: School Mentoring Scheme- Do you identify as a student of colour? Are you interested in volunteering as a mentor in local secondary schools?

Uni: School Mentoring Scheme – we need you!

Do you identify as a student of colour?

Have you had experience of school within the last 5 years?

Our project is with local secondary schools where University students of colour connect with students of colour in Years 9 – 11 (aged 13-16) to be role models and provide support and encouragement.

Full training and support on how to be a mentor and role model is provided. The sessions and training will take place online.

Time commitment is for 2 hours during the time period 12:30pm and 3:30pm every Wednesday for 6 weeks.

This is a great opportunity to volunteer with young people, enhance your communication skills and be a role model to a young person of colour.

Ideally you will have a DBS check in place, but if not we can arrange this for you.

Previous student mentors have said their confidence and communication skills have been increased. Every mentor said they enjoyed the experience and would recommend getting involved.

The programmes start in mid January and training takes place soon!
