Immersive, simulations and virtualisation

Interdisciplinary collaborations are at the core of progressing our understanding and deployment of immersive environments, simulations and virtualisation. Drawing from across the spectrum of computing, engineering, medicine, the arts, design and more, Connected Futures research focuses on the value of rapid contemporary changes in the interactions between people, material objects and digital media worlds. We harness innovation to build trust in digital infrastructures and collaborate with industry to turn ideas into reality and advance our connected lives.

This initiative includes our international Develop : Research conference track where we aim to showcase academic research that can demonstrate impact in the games industry.

For 2019 the programme focused on Serious Games and was convened by our previous Head of the School of Media, Helen Kennedy, and Professor Gregor White from Abertay University and included contributions from Stanford and Oxford alongside contributions from both Centre for Secure, Intelligent and Usable Systems (CSIUS) and  Centre for Digital Media Cultures (CDMC) at the University of Brighton.

Our internal expertise and resources in immersive, simulations and virtualisation spans much more, including:

We also have considerable expertise in 3D imaging as part of the CSIUS 3D Services Suite that can provide virtual reality (VR) environments through digitisation and visualisation of panoramic images and videos for VR.
