Comics REG member Professor Annebella Pollen is taking part in a panel discussion titled “What does it mean to be together?” on 6th September, which is part of a series of events accompanying the exhibition Sussex Modernism at the Towner Gallery, Eastbourne.

Annebella is accompanied by historian Carol Mills (researcher on the Eastbourne mural) and artist A T Kabe Wilson (making work inspired by Vanessa Bell), with the panel chaired by Professor Hope Wolf (University of Sussex), who also curated the Sussex Modernism exhibition.

The panel discussion will be on the topic of thinking through collective working and how artists approach work by other artists, either through direct collaboration or retrospectively through archives and collections.

In this exhibition, fine art is shown in contrast with counterculture and pop in this vibrant exhibition revealing how artists of very different kinds responded to the crises of their day through their relationships to Sussex and to the many different movements of modernism.
