Final garment photos

Group goal / timeline

With this project, our group want to bring awareness to the public and festival goers about the amount of waste produced by festivals within the UK. Our group will just be focusing on the UK but have researched the amount of waste from countries such as the US, originally, we wanted to produce a sculpture (December time), but we changed this idea during February, which ended up being our final outcome which is to produce a line of clothing from festival waste. We wanted it to be a rental service where festival goers can learn about waste and rent clothing for when they go to festivals. From February to April, we met each week and produced samples and clothing ideas as well as mood boards. By the last week of March / first week of April, we had the garments completed, and we had finalised our final shoot day for 19th April.  I have also linked our calendar for the last month of planning.

Process / To do – Group Plan of Action + time plan

Here are some process photos of us adding post-it notes to our group to do, but also organising them into what we have and have not completed. I have also attached our original Ghantt Chart, we have not used this in a few months as we opted for post-it notes, as they were more visual and easy for us to move around for people.

I think this process of using post it notes have made it really efficient for our group to work, as we have been able to move them around easily and add more if needed.

Group Calendar for a rough timeline of events for the last month of the project. We have currently finalised the final shoot day to be the 19th of April and we have decided on a location

Final Meeting – Wednesday 29th

Today we met to go over everything we needed to complete for the submission. I spoke with one of the tutors to help me with the blog, and I was then able to add drop-down menus for each person and new pages.

We then did a quick photoshoot with some of the small garments and accessories we had made.

After that I and Fred went to print in textiles to see if we could do a screen print for some of garments, they didn’t have enough of the chemicals to make a new screen so we decide to make a cutout stencil and used spray paint instead. This also fits a bit better with our festival wear ideas.

Finally, we started to chat about when we should do the final shoot and where we will do it. We’ve decided to do it the final week of our easter break with a few days to choose from depending on the weather.

Wednesday 22nd Meeting

Today we had our weekly meeting, and we did some organising of tasks and what people were wanting to do. Fred and Georgia also did pattern cutting for the garment designs.

During the meeting we also went through each group member and discussed their strengths and which tasks they want to complete and what they have already done. This has allowed us to figure out what we need to do going forward, as well as figure out what we have already done.

It was also good to see that we have made some accessories, such as bags and hats, as well as me making a pillow. Once we have everything sorted we will then be working on shoots over easter.

Wednesday 22nd Feb

Today we got together as a group and really tried to make a final decision on what we actually wanted to do. This post is just to document our process for today’s session.

  1. Gathered all our materials
  2. listened to everyone’s ideas
  3. had a chat with the tutors
  4. started linking ideas together
  5. went outside and took some photos of the materials we had
  6. did some more professional photos inside
  7. post-it notes of all tasks
  8. deciding what to do next week

Session with Tutors, Making Decisions

Wednesday 02nd February.

Today we had our first session back since Christmas. From the chat with the tutors, we realised that we needed to start setting some plans and decisions in place, so after the session, we sat together and made some decisions.

We will be using our research from festival waste to make a sculpture using said waste.

Next week we plan to gather all of our materials and decide how we want the sculpture to look like

Next week we will also decide what people would specifically like to look at during this project and get out of it.

We will look at how we can make the sculpture interactive and educational.
