Rythm & Bikes

Once I decided that tyres wee going to be the driving force of my project. I researched into the creation of belts, bags corsets and even shoes. When researching I realised that there were numerous organisations in South America and America where this was beginning to create traction. I took it upon myself to search among many different garages and bike shops in the attempt to find scrap inner tubes or even a whole tire. Numerous workshops didn’t hold any which I assumed was due to them being taken away as waste, this is until I stumbled across this bike repair shop. after speaking to the owner I was able to obtain an entire black plastic bins worth of tyres in which to work from. the shear scale of how many their were showed how many broken, punctured or old tyres that were just being thrown away. this motivated me to create something with the scrap rubber. beginning with the idea of a umbrella with the tubes attached to each spine to create a octopus looking piece, as this proved to be too fragile, I decided to change my perspective to something more practical such as a item of clothing. After researching an instagram designer named Oronti studio

I came to the conclusion to create a corset made of rubber tubes and style it from there.
