Mr. Watt started his forty (40) year career in transportation as a front-line worker at New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA). He rose to the position of Financial Secretary of the largest transit local in North America. He has worked for the two largest International transit unions, the Amalgamated Transit Union ATU and the Transport Workers Union TWU. As Health and Safety Director for TWU, he worked with Rail, Transit, and Airline Divisions. In his long career, Mr. Watt has served in many local, national, and international roles.

In addition to his six years as the Labor representative on the NY MTA Board, he has served as Vice-Chair of the Urban Transport Committee of the International Transport Workers Federation ITF, Human Resources Joint Steering Committee with UITP, and delegate to the International Labour Organization on Transport Safety. Mr. Watt has facilitated research with the TRB, NIOSH, and Cornell University’s Institute for Workplace Studies.

In addition to six (6) years on the project selection committee of TCRP, he has been a panel member of fifteen (15) projects, has served on the Transit Oversight Project Oversight Commission, and currently serves on the J-07 Oversight Panel (Synthesis). He is a Consulting Associate of the Mineta Transportation Institute.

He holds a Master of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations, MSILR, from Baruch/Cornell. He is currently the Principal of WattADR, an alternative dispute resolution practice. Since beginning his practice in 2021, he has mediated over eighty (80) disputes. He mediates in Queens County, Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers, and is a member of the Illinois Sixteenth Judicial Circuit Mediation Roster, Kane County. He also assists in training new mediators in the above DRCs and at Hofstra Law School.

I was privileged to engage in a stimulating and thought-provoking podcast with Professor Sharon Press on Expert Views on ADR (EVA) Vid / Podcast Show. She is the Director of the Mitchell Hamline School of Law Dispute Resolution Institute (DRI). She teaches Mediation and Negotiation (in both online and in-person formats). Professor Sharon is the Co-President of Community Mediation Minnesota. In this series, we delved into the Mitchell Hamline School of Law Dispute Resolution Institute (DRI), examining its objectives, methods, and the challenges it faced during its establishment. We provided insight into the state of ADR in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the time the Institute was founded and how ADR has improved access to justice in the United States.

Furthermore, we shed light on the profound impact of the Institute not only on the community in St. Paul, Minnesota but also on the broader public. Professor Sharon emphasised the Institute’s remarkable achievements, revealing its dedication to diversity and inclusiveness. We explored the courses and certificates that the Institute offers and discussed the future of international legal research, particularly ADR, through podcasting.

Finally, it is worth noting that during Dr. Chinwe’s recent visit to St. Paul, Minnesota, she interviewed about twenty (20) individuals from different areas of the city, including the Mall of America, Downtown, and Marshall Avenue. The interviews revealed that none of the individuals knew about ADR, which prompted her to inquire about the Institute’s efforts to educate the public and attract potential users. Professor Sharon highlighted the Institute’s initiatives aimed at educating the public about the benefits of ADR and attracting potential users.

With extensive experience working with healthcare, software, and technology companies, spanning from startups to publicly traded enterprises, Ellie has held pivotal roles such as outside general counsel, intellectual property counsel, and privacy counsel.
