Low tide at Chichester Harbour

Microparticulate analysis of Chichester and Langstone Harbour water

With grants from Langstone Harbour and Final Straw Foundation Corina Ciocan, Dipak Sarker and Magdalena Grove are investigating the water quality in Chichester and Langstone Harbours, in relation to the CSOs effluents and climate change events.

Chichester and Langstone Harbours are tidal estuarine habitats and some of the most intensively used waters in the UK. Several sources of anthropogenic pollutants are present in the harbours, including several marinas and boat yards, contributing to the increased contamination with microparticulates.

This study aims to gather information on the area and previous published data to investigate the sources of microparticle contamination in Chichester and Langstone Harbour. New data will be generated by a sampling campaign involving local community members. The results will be then disseminated at a local symposium/workshop organised at the end of the project.
