Congratulations to CDH member Zeina Maasri who has won the 2021 British-Kuwait Friendship Society Book Prize for her monograph, Cosmopolitan Radicalism: The Visual Politics of Beirut’s Global Sixties (Cambridge University Press, 2020)

The award recognises originality, clarity and accessibility, and importance to the field of Middle Eastern Studies.

Zeina shares the £10,000 prize with another author, Marina Rustow, for her book, The Lost Archive: Traces of a Caliphate in a Cairo Synagogue
(Princeton University Press).

In an online award event on 17th November, at 6pm UTC, Zeina will discuss her book in conversation with Dr Daniel Lowe, British Library. This will be followed by a question and answer session. The event is a celebration of the strength and depth of scholarship on the Middle East in the UK. For further details:
