I decided to choose the costume design team, and we discussed what costumes we would have to create vs bring in from home.

I was given the task of creating the pirates props and costumes.

For the swords, I used cardboard to create the initial shape and layered the cardboard for structure. I think painted using acrylic paint. I used darker shades of paint with a dry brush for the rustic and dirty effect and used a metallic paint for the shine on the ‘metal’ and ‘wood’.
   

for the pirate hats, I used card and created two of the same hat shape and glued those together. I painted the card black and added a skull and crossbones illustration to the front/

I also made a pirate beard out of paper I painted black. I then braided some string, painted that black and glued it to the beard.  I created a few golden ‘beads’ out of rolled up cardboard for the braids.
