Student Volunteering
Student volunteering is a fantastic way to gain real-world experience, build your CV, and develop key employability skills. It’s also a great way to connect with the local community and boost your wellbeing while making a positive impact.
How We Support You
Every year, our Volunteering Team helps hundreds of students discover rewarding and meaningful volunteering roles. From one-off activities like building bird houses with the university’s Sustainability Team, to ongoing, complex roles with essential front-line organisations, we can help you find the right opportunity for you.
What You Can Expect
The Volunteering Team is here to:
- Help you find the role that’s right for you from over a hundred brilliant local opportunities with our Community Partners
- Support you throughout the application process and beyond
- Ensure all roles are safe and supported, with appropriate insurance, Health and Safety, and statutory workplace requirements in place
“Volunteering is a chance to discover yourself and gives you an insight into the system and career you’re pursuing. Volunteering with the NHS gave me an edge for my current Job as a Pharmacy Assistant in the RSCH. I didn’t expect to be given an award and recognition, but I was so glad to get the Health Education England Certification and National Volunteer Certificate.“

Volunteering gives you a great opportunity to help in something you are passionate about, find areas you may be interested in career-wise, or meet new, like-minded people
