Accessing Your Career: Disability in the Workplace

Join us on the first event of our series, Accessing Your Career, all focused on helping Disabled students unlock their employability potential through engaging sessions!

In this online event we will explore what it means to be disabled in the workplace, including the challengesopportunities, and support available.

We will welcome a panel of speakers including:

Kayla Gill 

UoB Alumni (class of 2023) – Account Manager at GH05T 

Kayla graduated from the University of Brighton in 2023 with a BA (Hons) in Media Studies, and is a self-described ‘neurodiverse ADHD girlie’. She’s currently an Account Manager at GHO5T, a London-based social media marketing agency. She’s passionate about creative pathways and social media marketing. You can find her LinkedIn profile here

Hamish Patel 

UoB Alumni (class of 2012) – Global GSE Data Manager at Menzies Aviation 

Hamish graduated from the University of Brighton in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies with Finance, and has cerebral palsy. He worked at American Express in various roles for 12 years, and has since moved on to work at Menzies Aviation in a role that involves a lot of travel. Amy Brooks 

HR Business Partner at OneFamily 

Amy is a Chartered FCIPD HR specialist, as well as a coach and mentor for personal leadership skills. She works at OneFamily as their HR Business Partner, a Brighton-based Disability Confident Employer. OneFamily has a very strong Disability policy and focuses on inclusivity of employees throughout their journey in the organisation. She will be focusing on the perspective of businesses within Disability policy and advocacy. You can find her LinkedIn profile here
