Applications have opened for an exciting opportunity that enables successful applicants to receive hands-on research experience on projects covering all disciplines across the University of Brighton – you can apply today.

Thanks to funding provided by Santander Universities and the University’s Enhancing Research Culture Fund, this scheme will provide an opportunity for you to contribute to real research projects alongside academic staff and postgraduate researchers at the University. 

There are 16 project opportunities across multiple school and discipline areas for you to consider. Research projects will take place between April and July 2024 and provide 100 hours of work spread over this period. Participating students will receive a stipend of £1050 for the duration of the internship and will spend a maximum of 25 hours per week on the placement under the guidance of some of our researchers.

Students who are unsuccessful in their application will be directly supported by the University of Brighton Placements and Internships team.

Applying 

Apply for your chosen project by 5pm on 29 February 2024. You can only participate in one project running as part of this scheme, however, applications can be made for all projects of interest to the student, provided that a separate application is submitted for each opportunity.  

Should you require any advice regarding the scheme, please contact RaKEInitiatives@brighton.ac.uk. After that, queries about individual projects should be directed to the relevant Project Leads (contact details included in project details on Careers Connect).

The selection

The final selection will be made by a panel led by the Project Lead for the selected project. The panel members will be looking for applicants to communicate effectively how the student research experience scheme will add value to their academic studies, enhance their employability, and be of interest to employers and clients, helping them achieve their immediate and longer-term career plans or future plans. 

Please note that this is a competitive process, and submitting an application does not guarantee an award. Each application will be judged based on the information presented within the application. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application a minimum of two weeks before the project start date.
