There is lots of terminology for graduate jobs. How do you work out what is the right path for you?

Firstly, it is good to understand the recruitment cycle. This article covers the basics: https://www.graduate-jobs.com/gco/Booklet/graduate-recruitment-calendar.jsp Although most big players in an industry have deadlines for graduate scheme applications closing by Christmas, there will still be grad schemes open during the spring term. The key is to know who you want to apply for and check their deadline and work to that.

At this time of year, be aware that graduate jobs may be looking for last years graduates to start in the coming months. Always double check job requirements to see if they are looking for a completed degree or expecting final years to apply. Do they say when the jobs would start? Just to make sure you are spending your time effectively.

There are various ways to look at graduate jobs; graduate schemes, graduate jobs or a job as a graduate. The jargon can be confusing. Target Job’s article provides advice on how to understand what type of role might suit you. https://targetjobs.co.uk/careers-advice/career-planning/473800-what-is-a-graduate-job
