26 October and 23 November – IT’s not just for the boys. 27 October, 9am – 2pm – Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Allied Healthcare Professionals Open Day. There is no need to register for the event, just turn up on the day. Areas in attendance: Dieticians, Music Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), Orthoptists, Radiographers, Speech and Language Therapists, Prosthesis & Orthotics, Chiropodists & Podiatrists. The day will be full of talks and tours, with a number of interactive activities taking place. 27 October – The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, University of Sussex. Meet engineers currently working at Ricardo, GSK and Cubic. Three members of the Surrey & Sussex Young Members Committee will share their career experience as they transitioned from university to full-time employment. During the presentations, the three will use their experience to provide guidance, advice, tips and answer questions to the benefit of the audience. 5 November – Future Female Engineers. This employability event is tailored to help you build your professional network, connect with recruiters and gain inside advice about applications and what it’s like to work in the engineering sector. 7 November – A chance to visit ICH and discuss the opportunities UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health Open Day including posters by PhD students demonstrating the range of ICH research. http://bit.ly/2yyLVBP

20 & 21 November – In partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Graduate Engineering Engagement Program (GEEP) aims to give participants an insight into the engineering industry and equip them with the necessary skills to tackle the application process for a role within engineering. There will be a series of workshops focusing on strengthening CVs, helping participants ace competency interviews, group exercises as well as technical interviews. Additionally, participants will get the chance to speed network with representatives from up to 16 partner firms including BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, Siemens, Network Rail, WSP and many other world class engineering firms. Open to students of all years of study as well as recent graduates studying relevant degrees for the engineering industry. Students will be required to attend both days of the events they are selected for. 28 November – Train to Teach Brighton, Falmer campus. Information on how to get into teaching and how to apply for training in your region. Get personalised advice on your UCAS application – don’t forget to bring a copy of your personal statement with you. Talk to practising teachers about life in the classroom.
