beepurple will deliver support in new Eastbourne startup unit

The University of Brighton’s entrepreneurship support service, beepurple, is supporting a new student startup and entrepreneurial unit created at Eastbourne campus.

The ‘Imaginarium’ is an internal business incubator conceived by Dr Ioannis S. Pantelidis, Principal Lecturer in the School of Sport and Service Management. beepurple will use the unit to deliver one-to-one support.

“We want more of our students to take control of their own destiny and develop and build their own business,” says Ioannis, “and possibly gain credits for it at the same time.”

“The Imaginarium is a space fully equipped with a PC, Mac, colour printer, 3D printer, stationary and phone line. Students can book and utilise the space to develop their brand or take the early steps building their company.”

But the unit is not just an office space with equipment, says Ioannis: “We provide mentorship and support from a number of academics who are active in industry and run their own consultancies or businesses. We have also teamed up with beepurple for additional mentoring and we have linked the Imaginarium to nine modules so far.”
