An Apple a Day – Volunteer Student Mentors  are needed for a fantastic new project running  innovative wellbeing workshops for young people

Looking for a future career in the health-care profession?

Do you want to develop your communication and leadership skills?

This might be just the volunteering opportunity for you….

An Apple a Day is a student-led, healthy lifestyles and wellbeing outreach programme for Year 7 students at Brighton and Aldrich Community Academy. The project has been set up by students at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School and is looking for other students to join their mentoring team.

The programme comprises 6 fortnightly sessions, each lasting an hour. They cover topics and hold discussions on healthy eating, wellbeing, mental health and active lifestyles. You will need to commit to 12 hours a term which will include feedback and planning sessions with the team.

Your role as a Student Mentor will be to facilitate in these sessions, support the young people, collate feedback and work as a part of a team.

What skills do I need to have? There are no specific requirements for the Volunteer Student Mentor role, but they are looking for people with an interest in health and wellbeing and any previous experience of working with children or young people is desirable.
