If you tick these boxes, then read this Guest Blog by Emily from Art-K.  They are looking forward to hearing from you – this is your chance to launch yourself into a great future in the Arts world:

Art-K is an art club for children aged 6-16 and adults. We employ art graduates to teach our art-K programme in a dedicated studio. Outside of working hours, the space can serve as a personal studio for our employee, as well as providing exhibition space. Katie, a Fine Art graduate from Wimbledon College of Arts, runs art-K Wimbledon and wanted to share her experience with you:

I have had a great experience running art-K Wimbledon since September 2017. When I’m running the classes I strive to be the inspiration that my art teacher was to me, and to make each person feel special and encouraged. At art-K, each project is tailored to each child’s age and ability, so you really think about each person and care deeply about their progress. It is surprising how much teaching actually improves your own skills too. Because I’d been working on sculptures for a while, I was worried about being out of practice with using oil pastels and paint. I set myself 1 hour challenges once a week to do something in a different medium. At art-K you are constantly looking at how people can develop their work and seeing it objectively, so I could see what needed working on in my own artwork.

The space doubles up as your own art studio when you’re not running the classes which is great. I have been particularly fortunate because my unit is in a block of art studios so it’s great for making connections and being in a creative environment. As a sculptor, it’s extremely helpful because I don’t think I would have been able to afford a studio big enough otherwise.

The support has been great too – you get a manual with all the information about the projects; video tutorials; one to one training, and regular meetings. You learn how to do marketing, invoicing, social media, and generally how to have a professional level of communication. These are all useful skills I can use for marketing my own personal artwork too.”

We offer a way for art graduates to continue working in an industry they love, by applying their skills and passing them onto the next generation of artists. The job comprises delivering exceptional art classes for children and adults, marketing, managing enquiries and invoicing.

If you’re looking to start your own business, you may want to consider exploring the franchise option. This enables you to start an engaging and rewarding business with the complete support of a national brand. The difference between the two opportunities is that although investment is required to take on a franchise, the reward is significantly higher. You can immediately see your income increasing as the number of pupils rises.

Across the U.K. we currently have 13 branches operating, with a further 5 in the process of setting-up. These are a combination of franchises and directly-owned branches; 14 art graduates are involved in our clubs at the moment.

Art-K is growing and will be the biggest and best art tutor service available in the U.K. for 6 -16 year olds and adults. We are looking to set-up up to 50 new clubs over the next year and hope you want to join us on this exciting journey!

If you are enthusiastic about art, enjoy working with children, want to join a network of like-minded artists and be part of an exciting, fresh business then we would love to hear from you! We are a friendly company trying to engage with talented young artists just like you.
