Gaming and Television – What’s the Score?

Électro-kitsch-chez-Georges

Gaming makes up a significant portion of many media industries, including YouTube, Twitch and E-sports, but Gaming formats, are less frequent on Broadcast Television, even with formats alike ‘Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit’ (Dave), ‘Videogame Nation’ (Challenge) and ‘Charlie Brooker’s Gameswipe’ (BBC Four), which begs the question, why?

In this event, the relationship between Gaming and Television will be discussed, and the many themes surrounding these two mediums, as well as predictions of what the future may hold for this duo.

On the panel we have, Ellie Gibson (Chair), award-winning journalist, presenter, and stand-up comedian who specialises in Gaming and Technology, and is also the gaming expert on ‘Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit’; Steve McNeil, Writer, Comedian and Streamer, Steve has frequently been a contributor and guest host on ‘Videogame Nation’; Sam Pamphilon, Actor, Writer, Comedian, and alike Steve, Sam is a Co-creator & Team Captain on ‘Dara O’Briain’s Go 8 Bit’; Julia Hardy, Presenter, Technology Journalist, Vlogger and Host on BBC Radio 1’s ‘The Gaming Show’ (BBC), Julia also previously hosted the television coverage for the 2014 BAFTA Games Awards.
