MACMILLAN CANCER UK – CHEERPOINT/MARSHALL VOLUNTEERS

Bring your energy and enthusiasm to make lots of noise to motivate their fantastic Macmillan Runners at the Brighton Marathon at one of their three cheer points in Brighton and thank them for going the extra mile. It may also encourage them to take part again next year and inspire others to join Team Macmillan too, helping Macmillan to raise more money so that no one faces cancer alone.
Your role will be:
  • Motivating their brilliant Macmillan runners, at the branded cheering points along the route with other Team Macmillan volunteers. Ensuring their runners know how much Macmillan appreciate them and that they get the best possible experience. Inspiring their runners and the general public to raise as much money as possible to help us support people affected by cancer
  • Sharing the experience with your networks on social media with photos and updates on runners’ progress on Twitter and Facebook and increasing their impact outside the race.
  • Photographing runners, crowds and the Macmillan team to capture the atmosphere of the day and inspiring others to help Macmillan maximise the money they raise to support people affected by cancer
  • Representing Macmillan, whether in the Event Village or on the course, you are the face of the charity on the day and raising awareness of Macmillan’s work by your presence. You will receive a t-shirt and one of their pocket guides to signpost anyone who approaches you who needs Macmillan’s support.

If you want to be a Macmillan Cancer UK Cheerer/Marshall and are free on Sunday 9th April, then email volunteering@brighton.ac.uk with the Subject line of “Macmillan Marathon Volunteer” and include your Full Name, Email Address, Contact Phone Number.

STROKE ASSOCIATION – EVENT VOLUNTEERS

The Stroke Association are looking for volunteers to help within the marquee in the charity village for the Brighton Marathon. You will help decorate the marquee and cheer on and support the returning runners- all whom have pounded around the 26.2 mile course to help stroke survivors. All of the items needed will have already been delivered to the charity village prior to the day.

They are also looking for ‘cheerers’ at certain points on the course to encourage their runners. All items will be provided at the cheer points. Map of cheer points will be provided to volunteers.

If you want to be a Stroke Association Event Volunteer and are free on Sunday 9th April, then email volunteering@brighton.ac.uk with the Subject Line of “Stroke Association Marathon Volunteer” and include your Full Name, Email Address, Contact Phone Number.

BATTERSEA DOGS AND CATS HOME – CHEERER VOLUNTEERS

On race day at Brighton Marathon, 9 April, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will have 17 people running on behalf of the Home and Cheerer Volunteers are needed to support them. There is no better feeling that hearing someone shout your name when you are at a tricky stage on the route, so the more support we can provide the better.

All you need to do is turn up and cheer as loudly as you can every time you see a Battersea runner and they have a specific cheer point between miles 13 and 14 to make sure they have the maximum impact (and volume!).  Battersea relies so much on volunteers on the day and everyone one of them makes a huge difference, so the more the merrier.

Each volunteer is provided with a Battersea Dogs & Cats Home t-shirt to wear while at the event as well as banger sticks. All you need to bring is your voice and it is sure to be a fun and uplifting day!

If you want to be a Battersea Dogs and Cats Home Cheerer Volunteer and are free on Sunday 9th April, then email volunteering@brighton.ac.uk with the Subject Line of “Battersea Dogs and Cats Home Marathon Volunteer” and include your Full Name, Email Address, Contact Phone Number.
