Think you know all the Finance career options? Try digging a little deeper…
There’s more to a career in Finance than working for a large multinational company, so says University of Brighton alumni Mike Jessop, now in Marketing and Development at Invest & Fund.
Smaller companies and start-ups in the sector can offer a great start to a career within finance: here you can develop a variety of skills, take on responsibility quickly and advance your career rapidly in a fast changing environment.
In Mike’s view, if a job takes 10 minutes for you to find it will take 10 minutes for everyone else to find too! Research goes a long way when it comes to finding a job, getting hired and learning how to do your job quickly within the finance world. It can really pay off to dig deeper, find out about what is happening in the sector and about up-and-coming trends.
Here are some links Mike recommends to help you keep tabs on certain sub-sectors in Finance. You can read these every day to stay up-to-date with any news or announcements within the sector. They’re also the place for new entrants to send press releases, which always helps if you’re interested in the start-up scene.
