Visual Merchandiser Volunteer,
Cancer Research UK
Volunteer sought with an interest in fashion and clothing, to create visually inspiring window displays, as well as helping with merchandising, displaying and maintaining high standards of presentation in the shop. Brighton town centre based shop. Time commitment is 2 hours a week.

Kids Class Sewing Volunteer,
Sew Fabulous
Sew Fabulous is a sewing studio located in Brighton Open Market, for children, teens and adults. It runs funded workshops for those on a low income/unemployed as well as a repairs and alterations service. A volunteer would help prepare and deliver the kids class which takes place on a Wednesday 4-5:30pm. You would also be expected to arrive early to help set up and stay after the session for a debrief and to help tidy up.

Front of House Gallery Volunteer,
Phoenix Brighton Gallery
Phoenix Brighton has a large contemporary gallery and over 100 artists’ studios for professional practitioners. There is a yearlong programme of creative arts courses and events for the public. The gallery is currently taking applications from volunteers with a love of the arts, to assist with gallery based work. This includes: invigilation, installation, guided tours, workshops and serving drinks. The role is for a few hours per week on a regular basis, for 6 months as a minimum.

Memberships & Admin Volunteer,
The Charleston Trust

After a successful University volunteer placement last term, The Charleston Trust would like to offer their Memberships and Administrative Volunteer role out to students again. This role includes 8 hours of volunteering per week which can be split into 2 half days if required. Applicants will need to have strong administrative, communication and organisation skills, and be customer focussed.

Costume Store Assistant,
Gladrags
Gladrags is a unique and creative resource providing costumes (6000 of them!) to schools and colleges, community/youth groups and amateur/fringe arts, supporting and enriching their work. Costume Store Assistants assist with costume hire, making, care and the store’s inventory. Minimum time commitment is 4-6 hours weekly or alternate weeks, for three months overall, at least.

Nature Corridors for All Support (Arts, Photography) Volunteer,
Railway Land Wildlife Trust
This role includes: 1 – Taking fixed point photographs both on the Railway Land and at other sites (Birling Gap and Sheffield Park) 2 – Using art and technology to interpret the environment, and working towards exhibiting artwork at the Towner Gallery and 3 – Hands on conservation work on the nature reserve. The Railway Land Local Nature reserve is a 20 acre site on the edge of Lewes, which includes diverse habitats, including woodland, reed beds and water meadows. The Linklater Pavilion is an award winning sustainable building on the site that is home to the Railway Land Wildlife Trust. The Trust runs numerous social and ecological projects that are concerned with social inclusion and the study of environmental change. Time commitment is 1 session a week (4 hours) for 4 months overall.

Illustration Volunteer,
Hastings Independent Press
The Independent is a free newspaper, run by a small group of local residents who realise that Hastings is a unique place, with a character that deserves recognition. This role would be for volunteers to contribute either cartoons/illustrations to their own brief or to design specific illustrations to a brief outlined by our lead designer. Particularly suited to someone with an interest and skills in illustration, art or design. Minimum of 2 months’ time commitment – volunteering hours to be mutually negotiated.

Design Volunteer,
Hastings Independent Press
A Design Volunteer would work closely with our lead designer. Working in a range of areas, including: website design, newspaper design and layout, as well designing advertising graphics for our clients. This role would students with a creative background, on journalism, media and arts courses. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or InDesign are a must, although some training is provided. Volunteers need to be able to work on computers remotely i.e. from home or university.
