Schools Learning & Engagement Volunteer – Brighton Museum
The Royal Pavilion & Museum encompasses 5 sites across Brighton & Hove: The Royal Pavilion, Preston Manor, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, Hove Museum & Art Gallery and Booth Museum of Natural History. We are currently looking for capable, reliable and conscientious volunteers to assist with Schools Learning & Engagement at Brighton Museum. We are working to prepare new sessions, looking after our handling collections, working with teacher focus groups and promoting. Time commitment is one day a week for three months. Museum Receptionist Volunteer – Brighton Toy and Model Museum
Brighton Toy and Model Museum is a treasure trove of toys and models that extends over four thousand square feet of floor space, through four of the Early Victorian arches supporting Brighton Railway Station’s forecourt. Founded in 1991, it has over ten thousand toys and models in its catalogue, including priceless model train collections and many period antique toys. The Museum is looking for a Receptionist to greet visitors, help in the shop and talk to visitors about the Museum and its events and memberships.
Life Opportunities Volunteer – Care Co-ops
Care Co-operatives is a social enterprise passionate about improving the lives of local people and reducing social exclusion. Life Opportunities day services supports adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues to develop their abilities and gain new skills. Groups include, cookery, art, computers, everyday living skills, gardening, sewing, photography and working at the allotments on the community farm at Stanmer Park. Minimum time commitment is 26 weeks as a minimum: 2 hours per day, either 10.30am–12.30pm or 2-4pm.
Parklife Activator, Grand Parade – Sport Brighton, University of Brighton
SportBrighton is the sport and recreation department and ‘Parklife’ is the recreational sports programme. Parklife offers students the opportunity to take part in sport and try something new regardless of experience or ability. The main focus is taking part and having fun. Volunteers are sought to help run pop up activities at the Grand Parade campus. Working as part of a team you will be tasked with encouraging students to take part in the pop up activities and help to promote other local Parklife sessions. We are looking for someone to commit between 2-5 hours each week.
Costume Store Assistant – Gladrags Community Costume Resource
Gladrags is a charity run mainly by volunteers. We are a unique and creative resource providing costumes (6000 of them!) to schools and colleges, community/youth groups, amateur & fringe arts. We resource their community, arts, educational and wellbeing projects, supporting and enriching their work. Costume Store Assistants assist with costume hire, making, care and the store’s inventory. Minimum time commitment is four to six hours weekly or every other week, for three months at least.
Arts Connect Volunteer – Culture Shift
Based across Lewes, Eastbourne, Bexhill, Hastings and Newhaven, Arts Connect is a programme of activities designed to support adults with learning disabilities engaging in the arts and developing their talent and interests. Volunteers support arts courses and events between October 2015 and July 2016. You will work alongside a lead artist and project coordinator, Julia Roberts and support participants on a 1-1 or small group basis, with supervision and support throughout. The role includes training and travel expenses can be provided. Deadline to apply is 30 October 2015.
