Become a STEM Ambassador!

STEM Ambassadors are volunteers who work with young people to help enthuse and raise awareness of opportunities and possibilities which come from pursuing STEM subjects and careers.

There are many reasons why becoming a STEM Ambassador is worthwhile. It gives you a chance to work with young people, gain valuable experience, develop your communication and public speaking skills, confidence and give the opportunity to meet other STEM Ambassadors from academia and industry. It also looks great on your CV!

“It’s been incredibly beneficial for me. I’ve really developed my communication skills to a point where I’m able to communicate with pupils of all different levels, abilities and backgrounds.” STEM Ambassador

The role of a STEM Ambassador is varied. You can have any STEM background. We already have around 100 undergraduates; physicists, doctors, engineers, games designers/programmers, chemists, mathematicians, statisticians, and many, more; from all ages and backgrounds, representing thousands of different employers across the UK.

STEM Ambassadors can get involved in various ways, including mentoring, company visits, classroom support (talks or practical activities), or big events like the Big Bang Fair South East. The amount of time you commit to is flexible to what you would like to do.

STEM Sussex, based in room 422 of the Watts Building, coordinate the STEM Ambassador scheme for Sussex.
