How Active Student has supported Brighton & Hove City Council service: Cherish

Cherish is a special educational needs & disability (SEND) service run by Brighton & Hove City Council that provides social and leisure opportunities for 16-to-25-year-olds with moderate to severe learning disabilities.

They offer evening activities during term-time as well as a series of mini-bus based day trips throughout the school holiday periods.

The University of Brighton volunteering service, Active Student, has been working with the organisation to provide student volunteers to help support the staff at Cherish.

Chris Kerridge from Cherish has given us feedback on his experience taking on student volunteers:

“The service from the University of Brighton’s Active Student team [in providing student volunteers] is consistently excellent. Without their work, we would not have the dynamic, fun and interested staff team that we are fortunate enough to maintain, thank you.”
