Digital Humanities Australasia: Perth 2014

The aims of this conference centred on the advance of digital methods, tools and projects within humanities research and the development of new critical perspectives. Moriarty and Edquist’s presentation Design Exchange: promoting collaborative curating of Design Archives Data examined some of the digital mechanisms that enable collaborative work and question interpretative methods both within and beyond the design archive.

Design Exchange: Barcelona 2013
RMIT Europe hosted a Design Exchange symposium in September 2013, building on the 2010 symposium Mapping Design Archives, held at the University of Brighton, which inspired the AHRC-funded collaborative doctoral project Towards and Atlas of the Design Profession. Convened by Edquist and Moriarty with the intention to build curatorial collaborations across continents, the symposium was opened by Professor Colin Fudge, President of RMIT Europe and Vice-President RMIT University.

Participants from the University of Brighton and RMIT were joined by colleagues at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona including Isabel Campi, Oriel Pibernat and Anna Alcubierre. Key themes included the notion of the ‘active archive’, the relationship between the analogue and the digital, and the place of the archive in mapping émigré networks and the journeys of objects.
