Chosen for a letterpress exhibition at St Bride Library, London, 2009. From the Anthony Froshaug Archive housed at the University of Brighton Design Archives.Items from the Anthony Froshaug Archive are to be included in an exhibition at St Bride Library 27 October – 13 November. Entitled ‘Late letterpress: the work of Desmond Jeffery’, the exhibition focuses on hand-set letterpress. For Froshaug, letterpress was ‘a matrix upon which to develop a design programme’ whereas for Jeffery ‘the practice was the programme’. Equipping himself with a range of foundry types, most of them imported, Jeffery took over a letterpress workshop in Marylebone in 1956. The items from the Froshaug Archive document the contact between these two designers.
