Items from the Anthony Froshaug Archive are to be included in an exhibition at St Bride Library 27 October – 13 November. Entitled ‘Late letterpress: the work of Desmond Jeffery’, the exhibition focuses on hand-set letterpress. For Froshaug, letterpress was ‘a matrix upon which to develop a design programme’ whereas for Jeffery ‘the practice was the programme’. Equipping himself with a range of foundry types, most of them imported, Jeffery took over a letterpress workshop in Marylebone in 1956. The items from the Froshaug Archive document the contact between these two designers.
