Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Essentials Training
Welcome to the University of Brighton’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Essentials Training!
Once you have successfully enrolled online on University, we would like you to access and complete the Tier 1 EDI Essentials training.
We recommend working through the training resources in order and taking regular screen breaks between sections. There are several “Pause for Thought” sections in the training resources and you may want to go through one section and then take some time to process and reflect on the information. Having a pen and paper or using a mobile device to take notes may also be helpful. Please bear in mind that the topics covered here are complex and sometimes disputed, and the content is not exhaustive.
At the end of the Tier, you can complete a short quiz to test your knowledge and understanding of the resources. You will be able to download a certificate if you get 70% or above!
We will be following-up this activity during Welcome Week and in some of your modules, so please do put some time aside to complete this important activity.
Fundamental English and Mathematics
In September 2019, the DfE confirmed that applicants to teacher training programmes would no longer need to pass the skills tests as a requirement of entry. Under this new approach, Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers are expected to assure English and mathematics knowledge of a trainee before Qualified Teacher Status is awarded at the end of the course.
Please read further information about fundamental English and Mathematics and how you will be assessed.
