Staff Events

Attached is the schedule for staff activities during our third Enrichment Week. Some activities are back by popular demand others have been proposed or will be delivered by members of staff. I invite you to treat the Enrichment Weeks as an important feature of our community and hope you will sign up for several activities. At the end of the week I would appreciate feedback particularly around which activities to repeat and please do make suggestions for future weeks.

Our vision is to make a real difference to people, practice and society and that starts with us. As a learning community it is imperative that we take time to engage in collective reflection and action to enhance the student experience and enrich our community. Creating and maintaining a healthy learning community also involves taking care of ourselves and others.  We must prioritise our wellbeing to ensure we have the energy, space, motivation and expertise to make a difference to ourselves and others. Planned activities seek to enhance wellbeing as well as developing expertise and raising awareness of matters that impact on us all. Some are as short as an hour while others are much longer.  I do hope there will be something that appeals to everyone.

What is worthwhile, meaningful and valuable to you about what you do? The Values and Sustainability Research Group (VSRG) is delighted to invite you to an engaging session through which you will be introduced to the WeValue shared values elicitation process.

The WeValue approach, based on over thirteen years of research, has been used with public and private organisations, behaviour change projects, businesses, civil society organisations, universities, schools and local authorities. This unique process defines values through ‘values-based indicators’ that can later become measurable.

WeValue is a participatory organisational development tool delivered through sessions led by certified facilitators. It has been found helpful as organisations address challenges and change in relation to team/staff engagement and cohesion, diversity and inclusion, internal and external communications and decision making

Is your brain feeling fried? Are you constantly on the go? Do you want to feel totally blissed out instead of stressed out? If this sounds like you, give yourself permission to nourish YOURSELF for an hour during Enrichment week!

Imagine lying down, surrounded by the aroma of 100% natural, pure essential oils. The smell of pine trees, pressed lemon, grapefruit and wild orange taking you from feeling frazzled to fresh! Or calm and sooth a busy mind with grounding cedar wood, frankincense or lavender. Lift your spirit and soul with natural floral scents.  It sounds delicious doesn’t it?

During the session you’ll close your eyes and indulge in a uniquely aromatic oil experience, followed by practicing restorative self-massage techniques to release tension in your body. Finally, you’ll drift in and out of awareness as you find your own form of ‘brain bliss’ during a deeply relaxing guided meditation.

The Art of Being Brilliant

http://www.artofbrilliance.co.uk

Imagine a work place where everyone turns up every day as the very best version of themselves. Imagine the energy, how productive and creative it would be, and how you would face the challenges that lie ahead. Imagine the results that would be achieved.

In a nutshell, the Art of Being Brilliant is all about individuals, it can make a massive difference to the quality of the work they do and therefore the effect that they have. This session is a rejuvenating experience, drawing on over 12 years of research into positive psychology. The workshop is about you and your people coming alive, and equips everyone with the inner resources to be able to be the very best version of themselves. The aim will be to challenge current habits and ways of thinking, to re-energise and enthuse staff for the challenges that lie ahead and, say it quietly, it may even change their lives.
