We know deciding where and what to study is a big decision, so if you’re considering pursuing a degree in business management, you’ve come to the right place. In this blog post, we’ll outline our top reasons we think studying business at Brighton could be the key to unlocking your future success.

Our business and management courses provide you with the skills and knowledge needed for a wide range of careers, which can apply to any sector or industry.

With an emphasis on employability and responsible management, all our courses give you the opportunity to gain the practical experience, skills and professional networks needed to kick-start or enhance your career.

The University of Brighton School of Business and Law is proud to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) – achieved by fewer than 6% of business schools globally. AACSB-accredited schools lead business and management education, industry engagement and impactful research and enable our students to collaborate with academics in other world-leading universities.

Our courses are also accredited by professional bodies including the Chartered Management Institute – which offers a dual award on our business management degrees. Depending on which modules you choose you can also benefit from exemptions from professional exams from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

We embed practical experience with placement opportunities

As part of your degree, you’ll have the opportunity to spend a year in a paid placement, allowing you to apply your learning building your work experience, life skills and contacts before you graduate.

The University of Brighton also have a dedicated team of placement specialists to support you with your search and application. Previous students on placement have worked with companies including American Express, Nike and BMW.

The University of Brighton has well-rounded graduates

The University of Brighton is in the top 30% for average earnings three years after graduation in undergraduate business and management subjects, according to the Longitudinal Education Outcomes 2022, and in the top 10% for graduate earnings in business and management among universities with comparable entry levels.

Every year the university takes part in the national Graduate Outcomes survey, which contacts recent graduates of UK Higher Education Institutions to find out what their career destination is approximately fifteen months after completing their studies.

Based on information from our 2019–20 leavers, and on full-time, first-degree, home graduates 91.4% of the survey population were in work or study fifteen months after completing their course at the University of Brighton.

University of Brighton courses have an international perspective

By studying in a multicultural environment and putting your knowledge into context through international case studies and live client work you will be gaining the knowledge and the skills you will need for your future career.

As signatories to PRME, a United Nations initiative to raise the importance of responsible management, our courses, industry experts and experienced lecturers will help you to make a positive impact.

Brighton students also have access to the Turing scheme, a government-funded programme supporting students with funding to study, volunteer or work abroad. The scheme can help fund your overseas trip of over 4 weeks, provided you are volunteering, working or studying with an official organisation.

We embrace an inclusive learning environment

Every school at the University of Brighton has at least one dedicated Student Support and Guidance Tutor (SSGT), who are dedicated to supporting you with any issues that might be impacting your studies, your wellbeing and your experience with us. No matter your background, we are here to support you.

The University of Brighton also proudly created The Inclusive Practice Partnerships (IPP) scheme, which is a university-wide initiative that empowers students and staff to work together to create a more inclusive curriculum. They do this through diversifying and decolonising their module content, and how it is delivered.

What our graduates say

“My internship was at the non-profit organisation, The Borgen Project, and I was one of only 5% of applicants that got accepted. As the Marketing and Public Relations Intern I was involved in contacting influencers and media, including US Congress, to spread the word about ending global poverty and hunger.”
