Born in Newhaven in 1963, Cliff Wright is a Sussex-based author and illustrator, painter, sculptor and teacher, well known for his work on two of the Harry Potter book covers.

Wright graduated from the Brighton Art College in 1986 with a BA(Hons) Illustration and has had his work published all over the world. He specialises in illustrations of animals and children’s books, most notably the second and third book in J K Rowling’s Harry Potter series – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, also The Wind in the Willows. He also illustrated numerous books for the publishing houses of Ladybird Books and Oxford University Press in the 1990s and 2000s. He has also written and illustrated the “Little Bear” series of board books from Templar Publishing.

Most recently, he has devoted time to his lifelong passion for sculpture.

Wright has also founded a series of innovative drawing-based workshops, courses and retreats under the name of Nature of Seeing, which have attracted high praise.

His work has been featured many times on radio, local and national TV.
